The 2011 Let’s Elope Stakes final field hasn’t failed to deliver on expectations with a full contingent of 16 runners to line up at Flemington Racecourse this Saturday.
The Group 2 race is worth $200,000 across 1400m for the best mares aged four and over anywhere in the country.
This could be an interesting one for punters with a few good horses in great form as well as a couple of great horses in poor form.
While you might be able to pick one or two that should win this race if another one finds form it could throw all those picks out the window.
The horse that probably best displays this type of thinking is Brazilian Pulse.
She’s a Group 1 champion but at her last two starts she’s been very average.
In her final run last prep she was never in the race finishing eighth and in her first up run this campaign she was near enough to last the entire time.
That said, perhaps she did have excuses and from gate six she’ll be able to pick up a much better spot in running.
The form horse in the race though is Mid Summer Music and she’s also the fittest.
The Peter Moody trained runner has run five times this prep for four wins and a second giving her a mountain of momentum coming into this one.
In a similar boat albeit through the lower grades the David Brideoake trained Biancon Rose.
She’s had the five starts as well this campaign for four wins and a third, virtually identical to Mid Summer Music.
One we’ve highlighted to watch though is Peter Snowden’s Parables.
She’s a horse of proven ability and just about as consistent as any you’ll find still going around.
She started first up with a strong second last start and with the improved fitness coming out of that run she should certainly improve coming into this one.
